Organizations:
Overview of Personal Empowerment Through Emotional Intelligence Program
Mosby Employment Services believes everyone has value and the capability to have the career and life they desire. In order to reach these goals inherent within one’s self, emotional intelligence must be addressed. So, what is emotional intelligence? According to Daniel Goleman in practical terms, it means “being aware that emotions can drive one’s behavior and impact people (positively or negatively) and learning how to manage those emotions.”
Our program uses coaching techniques, interactive exercises and experiential sessions to assist the individuals you serve in understanding their emotional intelligence and how to regulate their emotions for success. The curriculum teaches participants how to build self-confidence and change the negative beliefs that interfere and hinder their growth. Often times, many individuals - including the individuals you serve, are told they can’t and will never obtain their dreams. This workshop provides the tools and resources to remove those barriers to success, and helps the people you serve become star performers.
Now more than ever, employers are recognizing the importance of soft skills, or “emotional intelligence” in their employees. According to Daniel Goleman’s best-selling book Emotional Intelligence and Working with Emotional Intelligence, the single most important factor in entry-level to top executive positions is not IQ, advanced degrees or technical expertise, but emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence encompasses self-awareness, self-confidence, self-control, commitment, integrity and the ability to initiate and accept change. All of these qualities contribute to a star performer in today’s workplace.
In this workshop, the individuals will measure their emotional intelligence through a questionnaire assessment of 54 soft skills (For more information about this survey, visit https://www.pairin.com/). The results will help them to understand their strengths and the areas in which they can improve. Through the use of discussions, exercises and assignments, participants will address their soft skills and hear from employees about how their soft skills have enabled them to obtain and retain employment and move up in their companies. In addition, they will have the opportunity to speak with employers who value the importance of these soft skills and use these newfound skills in their interviews.
Over the course of the program the individuals will:
1. Develop an understanding of self and others through empathy and strong listening skills
2. Explore their beliefs and values and develop skills to combat negative thoughts and behaviors
3. Build confidence in embracing their identity
4. Create higher expectations of themselves in order to reach higher goals
5. Develop the skills to become effective team members
6. Embrace their strengths and weaknesses and learn from them
7. Develop the soft skills employers are looking for and ultimately become emotionally intelligent
